Canowindra –The Hot Air Balloon Capital of Australia is only 53kms
After your morning vehicle shuttle back from Parkes to Eugowra., you can enjoy a revitalising cup of coffee at The Fat Parcel Food Van or The Escort Rock Cafe before heading off on this next beautiful and fascinating leg of the Lachlan Valley Cycle Trail.
Once again, you’ll be travelling the roads and beautiful countryside that was once roamed by bushrangers and countrymen, before arriving in Canowindra, the hot air balloon capital of Australia. Canowindra’s entire quaint and historical town centre along Gaskill Street is classified by the National Trust and provides visitors with a unique snapshot of historical central NSW. In addition to its more recent balloon capital title, Canowindra is the town made famous when it was taken over in 1863 by bushranger Ben Hall and his gang for 3 days of merriment, you can visit the site of the hotel and learn more about what happened. We also highly recommend a visit to the Ages of Fishes Museum and Historical Museum.
Hard Fun – Flat terrain, some up hills and long day
